How Any Dairy Products Will Slow or Prevent Candida Healing

There is a ton of research out there showing the detrimental effects of dairy products. Only the public just doesn’t know it. Well, eating dairy could seriously be affecting your body’s ability to heal from candida. Why? First, your body combating the adverse effects of dairy will use up energy and resources from healing the candida. Second, the funky things in dairy will help the candida grow.

Here are some fun facts to illustrate why nothing about dairy is nutritious or good for you: 
  • Milk from a female animal is only consumed by the offspring of the animal in it’s youth, except in the case of humans, who drink other mothers milk throughout their lifetime.
  • The chemical compostion of cows milk is very difficult for us to break down. We use the enzyme lactase to break it down, which we generally slow down or stop producing in our bodies by age two.
  • The main protein in cows milk is casein. This coagulates in the stomach and is difficult to break down.
  • Casein produces caseomorphin which has an opiate like affect and can aggravate and cause autism.
  • Harvard review: dairy has been known to double the risk of prostrate cancer.
  • Casein has been shown to promote cancer. (Dr. Campbell, Cornell University)
  • Dairy is acid forming (not alkaline forming) which exacerbates and promotes disease. The acid load leeches calcium from our bones.
  • Dairy makes the body produce too much mucus, which slows down the removal of toxins in the body.
  • Dairy producers often add hormones to the cows, which get passed on to you. Enjoy.
  • Dairy pasteurization kills any beneficial enzymes in the milk.
  • Several studies and statistics show that dairy consuming populations have much higher incidences of osteoporosis and fractures than those cultures that don’t. It has been shown that dairy promotes osteoporosis and weakens bones.
  • Calcium in dairy is virtually unabsorbable. Eat green leafy veggies for actual absorption.

See how all this work, acid forming and mucus will prevent your immune system from healing candida? In sum, stop completely or only eat dairy extremely rarely on a cheat meal. You’ll feel the difference and eventually quit. Soon, you won’t need cheat meals or dairy ever because you’ll feel so good!

Gerson therapy: the importance of low salt in candida cure – could it be affecting you? And does salt cause cellulite?

Could regular salt be affecting your ability to heal from candida? Quite possibly. Modern table salt has detrimental effects on the body if consumed in large quantities. And guess what? Our modern SAD (Standard American Diet) has way too much salt in it. Back in the day when salt was not readily available, it could cause problems by having too little. Now the pendulum has swung the other way.
Too much salt could be affecting your body’s ability to heal. Your body should naturally heal from candida, as pointed out in my book Healed for Good – My Candida Yeast Infection cure. However, several obstacles can prevent optimum healing from happening.
You many think you don’t have much salt in your diet, but try writing down all the sodium content in everything you eat for a week and you’ll be shocked.
Here are some facts from Healing the Gerson Way:
·       The body needs 52 minerals to keep it functioning well and defenses strong.
·       You can get these minerals in good-soil grown organic produce.
·       Sodium and Potassium are responsible for creating the majority of mineral imbalance
·       Humans need a mineral balance 90% potassium and 10% sodium
·       This 90/10 mineral balance is found in natural, fresh, organic produce.
·       Excess sodium is an enzyme inhibitor and stimulates tumor growth
·       Dr. Gerson saw great results in his patients with additional potassium in the diet.
·    Dr. Gerson also saw imbalance and damage in patients by adding any other minerals such as iron, magnesium, iron and especially calcium.
·       Well balanced minerals can achieve bone restoration, without additional calcium.

You can see that salt, in today’s modern diet, is very excessive and can be entirely eliminated if one is eating enough healthy produce. These facts highlight why mineral balance and eating right is so important to the body’s defenses.

Gerson Therapy – is it Right for Candida?

Gerson therapy was designed and implemented in the 1950’s by Dr. Max Gerson. He had cured himself of migraines and began using the therapy to treat others. He noticed that a plethora of other diseases began to disappear from his patients and eventually it developed into a cure for several different types of cancer. But does it work for candida. The simple answer is: yes.
The downside of this therapy is that it is strict, intensive and long-term for cancer patients. The upside is an overwhelming number of success stories for long lives and total healing of cancer, more so than any other cancer therapy. But is it right for candida sufferers?
In the book Healing the Gerson Way, the therapy is used to heal several types of cancer, only to also have complete (and I mean 100%) recovery of other diseases such as diabetes, heart disease, osteoporosis, arthritis, and even AIDS. These remarkable healings are based on a joint principle that must be used in conjunction with each other, or it really doesn’t work.
My book is based off the same principles, and I was able to heal my candida (healed since 2010!) using the same principle without doing the rigorous and restrictive Gerson Therapy. I was able to do a modified version and heal quickly with no recurrence! Get your copy of Healed for Good here
I would, however, recommend you to also read Healing the Gerson Way to further emphasis on the principles of how to heal. In the book, there is an example of how a person healed their candida, but doesn’t give much detail. In my post Gerson Therapy Modified for Candida, I had emailed the Gerson Institute to see if there were any modifications. But again, you don’t need to do the therapy to heal your candida. The book is a must read though, as a high percentage of people may end up with some of the aforementioned diseases, and that would certainly be the best way to approach healing, versus drugs, radiation, surgery and chemotherapy.
The principles of healing, outlined in my book, take you through a simple, no-nonsense, easy way to explain why you have candida, and how to solve it – for good – like I did! It isn’t about the sugar!
In order to have healed candida via the Gerson way, or my way, is really about this: remove toxins fast, input nutrition fast. The main point is that only nutrition, without toxin removal is DANGEROUS. You must be sure that you either go very slow to detox and input nutrition, or do the full Gerson therapy.
Again, both books are a must read. Going Sugar-Free Doesn't Stop Candida: Here is why!

One of the foundations of my book Healed for Good: My Candida Yeast Infection Cure is that sugar is not the cause nor the cure of candida.

Repeat: The reason you have candida has nothing  to do with sugar.

I eat sugar. I did have candida. I don't have candida. I still eat sugar.

Yes, candida and yeast thrive on sugar, but sugar is not the cause of it. If this were the case, every us citizen would have candida yeast overgrowth. Clearly, this is not the case.

The reason you have candida is simple, but in some ways complex. The upshot is: you don't have to go on wacky or unrealistic diets that you will eventually fall off of.

Yes it is a good idea to lower your sugar intake, but that is a good idea no matter what, as we all know.

You don't have to buy a bunch of crap or expensive supplements. You don't have to buy "super probiotics" or worry about the "perfect concoction" to fix you. In fact, the reason you have candida is so simple, it will blow your mind maybe. Or maybe not.

I wrote a 52-page book Healed for Good to discuss this "simple fact", so obviously it is a little more complex, but the bottom line is: I healed myself. No "special remedies" either. Yes I mention some alternatives to speed up and augment the transition from sick to well, but ultimately, it is basic, basic, basic!

Hopefully, just this information - that sugar is not the cause or lack of it is the cure of yeast infections - will get you walking on the right path, and hopefully you can learn from me.

Toxins Aid Candida - Sunscreens to Blame?

In my book Healed for Good, I cover the unknown toxins that are ruining our lives, and causing chronic yeast infections. Sunscreen is one of them. This type of information is crucial to understanding the nature of WHY you have candida chronically and can't get rid of it: a complex set of factors that affect your health.

"90% of commercial sunscreens and sunblocks contain a chemical called octyl methoxycinnamate, which is toxic and doubles it's toxicity when exposed to sunlight. Sunscreens Exposed: 8 Things to Consider Before You Get Burned

Though we know sunscreens prevent sunburns, we don't know much about the safety and efficacy of most creams, lotions and sprays on the market. Despite the unknown efficacy of sunscreens and even the indications that there are many risks in using them, public health agencies still recommend them, although not as a first line of defense against the sun. Recent findings suggest that we should seek out shade, wear protective clothing and avoid the noontime sun before we glob on the lotions.

Additionally, here are eight factors exposed by the Environmental Working Group (EWG) to consider when it comes to sunscreen use:

1. There is no consensus that sunscreens prevent skin cancer. Although the FDA's 201 T sunscreen rules allow sunscreen makers to advertise that using their products can decrease the risk of skin cancer and sun-related skin aging, a wide range of public health agencies, including the FDA, have found little evidence that using sunscreen prevents most types of skin cancer.

2. There is evidence that the use of sunscreens might increase the risk of the deadliest form of skin cancer for some people.
Researchers believe there is an increased risk of melanoma among sunscreen users. No one knows why, but it may be because people tend to stay out in the sun longer and absorb excessive amounts of radiation after putting on sunscreen. Scientists also believe free radicals are released as chemicals in the sunscreens break down in the sun.

3. There are dozens of high-SPF products - but no proof they're better. The FDA has proposed that SPF values higher than "50+" be prohibited. In the past, the agency stated that “50+" can be ”misleadíng to the consumer." The added danger is that high-SPF products invite people to stay in the sun longer.

4. Too little sun might be harmful, reducing the body's vitamin D levels.
Sunshine is the main source of vitamin D, which is necessary for many bodily functions including bone density. Sunscreen appears to inhibit the production of vitamin D.

5. The common sunscreen ingredient vitamin A may speed development of cancer.
A 2009 FDA study shows that a form of vitamin A, retinyl palmitate, may speed the development of skin tumors and lesions when applied to skin which is then exposed to sunlight. Yet, sunscreen manufacturers add vitamin A to 25% of all sunscreens. EWG recommends that consumers avoid sunscreens with vitamin A (look for "retinyl palmitate" or "retinol” on the label).

6. Free radicals and other skin-damaging by-products of sunscreens. Both UV radiation and many sunscreen ingredients generate free radicals, which damage DNA and skin cells, accelerate skin aging and cause skin cancer. Even though effective sunscreens can prevent more damage than they cause, they're more effective in preventing sunburn than in limiting free radical damage, especially when users apply too little sunscreen or reapply it infrequently.

7. Pick your sunscreen: nanomaterials or potential hormone disrupters.
Currentiy, no sunscreen  completely blocks UV rays, 2) remains effective for many hours, and 3) prevents the development of harmful ingredients when broken down by UV light, at the same time.The major choice in the U.S. is less stable "chemical"sunscreens, which penetrate the skin and may disrupt the body's hormone systems, or "mineral" sunscreens (zinc and titanium), which may contain nanoparticles of those minerals.
EWG believes that, from what's available, mineral sunscreen has the best safety profile. They are stable in sunlight and don't appear to penetrate the skin. They also offer UVA protection. For consumers who don't like mineral products, EWG recommends sunscreens containing 3% avobenzone, but no oxybenzone, a known hormone disrupter.

8. The FDA is still not protecting consumers
In June 201 T the FDA announced upcoming new rules for labeling and effectiveness testing of sunscreens, a ban on misleading claims like "Sunblock," "waterproof"and ”sweatproof" and better definitions for"broad spectrum" protection. Implementation of these rules has been delayed until December 2012 and many gaps will still remain.

Weak U.S. standards for UVA protection will still allow nearly 90 percent of sunscreens to use the label “broad spectrum" without reformulating their products. The FDA doesn't have plans to consider hormone disruption for sunscreen chemicals. The new rules will also still allow sunscreen makers to use ingredients such as vitamin A. There are still no requirements for companies to measure sunscreen stability even though it's evident that many products break down quickly in sunlight.

What can we do to protect ourselves?

Do Probiotics Affect Candida?

Don't let them sell you the "even more amazing" probiotics on the internet. The basics at your local health food store will do.

In my healing of my own candida, I didn't focus on taking probiotics.I had tried that for years, to no avail. In fact, I didn't when I had my short healing period - I didn't need to take them. What I found out is that taking probiotic supplements - while beneficial - is not enough on it's own to heal candida. It is a synthesis of tactics that can totally eliminate chronic yeast infections.

With this in mind, enjoy this article below on the benefits of probiotics, I think it is good to understand how this system of the body works and how taking care of this aspect can support your overall health. Your gut bacteria does affect your immune system to a great degree. Just know that this alone is not going to solve the chronic problem.

Where does it all begin, and how can we alter the course of a compromised immune system that results from dysbiosis or overgrowth of bad bacteria? First, the human digestive tract is lined with about 100 trillion bacterial cells at any one time. The number of individual species is thought to be somewhere between 300 and 1000. In fact, if you could weigh the bacteria in a person’s digestive system, it would probably weigh about 2.2 pounds. By contrast, we have an estimated 10 trillion cells in our bodies, so bacteria actually out-number our own cells!

When the various bacterial populations in the gut are in the right balance, with the right numbers interacting with each Other, we feel fine. When things get out of balance and a particular pathogenic population increases, We get sick. This bacterial population or flora in our gut gets introduced when we are born. As a baby comes through the birth canal, it gulps its first mouthful of bacteria, which then begins populating its digestive tract. If the mother’s bacteria are out of balance, the baby's will be too.

One way babies can stay ahead of the curve is by breastfeeding. Mothers who breastfeed their infants impart immunities that will help them develop and stay healthy, despite imbalanced bacteria. But once a mother stops breastfeeding, the baby’s system is susceptible to all sorts of pathogens that lead to ear infections, asthma, and other childhood illnesses, according to Russian neurologist Natasha Campbell­MCBride, MD. “Abnormalitics in your immune system are a common outcome of GAPS (Gut and Psychology/Physiology Syndrome), and such immune abnormalities are at the root of virtually all degenerative diseases,” she says.

“About 85 percent of our immune system is located in the gut, so the composition of microbes in your gut flora has a profound effect on what forms of immune cells you will be producing on any given day, as well as what they’re going to be doing and how balanced your immune system is,” continues Campbell-McBride.
Research has shown that the balance of good/bad gut bacteria can affect weight and behavior, and has recently been connected to the development of multiple sclerosis in mice. A study published in Nature showed that mice bred to develop a disease similar to multiple sclerosis were first raised in an environment with no bacteria and never developed symptoms. Once typical gut bacteria were introduced, the mice began showing signs of disease. “I think what our study really shows is the importance of gut microbiota in the initial phase of the disease,” said Gurumoorchy Krishnamoorthy of the Max Planck Institute of immunobiology and Epigenetics in Freiburg, Germany.

What can we do to promote a better outcome if one's immune system is compromised since birth? We can actually change the balance of gut bacteria by what we eat. Probiotics, which aid the good bacteria, are abundant in fermented foods like yogurt,  and Sauerkraut. The problem for most of us is that rather than populate our systems with probiotics, our illnesses have been treated with an abundance of antibiotics. This compounds the problem by wiping out more of our good bacteria, along with the bad. While antibiotics have been a lifesaver for many of us, we do need to replenish the good bacteria with probiotics if we want to maintain good health.

We also need to focus on healing the lining of our intestines. If frequent symptoms like headaches (including migraines), rashes, acne, sneezing, abdominal pains, swollen joints, or psoriasis flare up, it’s likely that we have food sensitivities resulting from unbalanced gut flora. “The gut lining begins to deteriorate, since it is actively maintained by our gut flora,” says Campbell­-McBride. “As the gut lining deteriorates, the junctions between the cells open up, causing it to become porous or leaky. It becomes like a sieve, and foods don’t get the chance to be digested properly before they are absorbed,” she explains. Basically, the immune system doesn't recognize these particles as food, and it creates immune complexes, which attack the partially digested proteins. This causes a variety of symptoms from anxiety and depression initially to autoimmune disorders like arthritis eventually.

What's the answer? Healing the digestive lining with foods and supplements that support beneficial bacteria While eliminating irritating foods from the diet until we lose the antibodies--essentially feeding the good bacteria and starving the bad. This will let the good guys regain control, letting the bad bacteria know, “This is my territory and you play by my rules!”
